Replacing a Light Bulb in a GE Microwave Oven JKP67G002

GE, General Electric, manufactures a wide range of appliances, such as refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers and a variety of ovens. GE microwaves, like the JKP67 models, were part of a Cooking Center that also features a self-cleaning oven. The microwave oven includes an interior light bulb that lights up during the cooking process and when the door is opened. When this bulb burns out, you need a 40-watt home appliance light bulb to replace it.

Instructions

    • 1

Discontinue the power going to the GE JKP67 Cooking Center. Turn off the circuit breaker in the electrical panel or remove the main fuse.

    • 2

Locate the glass cover over the light bulb on the inside of the microwave. Take the door off, if you cannot easily reach the light fixture.

    • 3

Place your hand under the cover to catch it before it falls. Use your fingers to push back the ball-shaped wire that holds the glass cover in place until it releases the cover.

    • 4

Lift and remove the cover. Unscrew the light bulb and replace it with a new bulb.

    • 5

Put the glass cover back in place over the light bulb. Pull the ball-shaped wire forward until you hear it snap in place.

    • 6

Connect the power back up to the GE JKP67 Cooking Center.
