How to Adjust a Magic Chef Range CLY1610BDB Thermostat

The Magic Chef Range model CLY1610BDB is a cooking solution for small homes and recreational vehicles. Unlike traditional ranges, it does not offer the convenience of adjusting thermostat temperatures. Instead of adjusting the thermostat, if you want to make any changes, you must replace the thermostat with a new part that has different settings than the original. The replacement part could also repair a faulty thermostat that no longer heats like it used to.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the range, unplug the gas supply and wait a few moments for the pilot light to burn out.

    • 2

Remove all components in the oven, including the racks, bottom tray and burners. Set them aside.

    • 3

Use a screwdriver to remove the back plate on the back of the range. Set the screws in a safe location and slowly pull the plate off.

    • 4

Reach back and remove the probe connection to the oven. This is the heating element connected directly to the thermostat.

    • 5

Remove the bolt connecting the thermostat. Slide it out over the wires and set it aside. Slide the new thermostat through the wires and into the position of the old one. Reconnect the bolt.

    • 6

Slide the wires through the small hole on the metal sheet and screw it securely into place. Reattach the oven probe and set it into place.

    • 7

Insert the oven rack and other pieces back into the range. Connect the gas hose and allow a few minutes for the gas to travel through the hoses on the range. Turn on the range to test the new thermostat.
