Place a wall stud finder on the wall area where you want to hang the microwave. Turn on the stud finder and slide it horizontally across the wall to find any wall studs that may be present. Find at least two wall studs and make them both with pencil mark.
Measure the horizontal length of the microwave unit with a measuring tape and subtract 2 inches. The two wall studs found in the previous step must be placed no further apart than the adjusted measurement. The studs must be within the microwave’s length to provide the best support for the wall-mounted microwave.
Hold a microwave bracket up against the wall so it rests on a single wall stud. Use the pencil mark on the wall as your guidance to find the wall stud. Determine the desired height and make a small pencil mark along the top of the wall bracket. Hold the second wall bracket up against a second wall stud and use a level to ensure the second wall bracket is evenly placed with the recently drawn pencil mark.
Attach the wall brackets to the wall studs using the pencil marks for guidance. Install the brackets one at a time with a cordless drill. Use at least three 3-inch-long screws per microwave wall bracket so the screws attach to the wall studs. Ensure the two brackets are level and even so the microwave won’t sit crooked on the wall brackets.
Place the microwave on the two brackets installed on the wall, so it is evenly placed on the brackets. It should not be placed more to one side, as the microwave will be unbalanced. Use the measuring tape to measure the distance between the side of the microwave and the wall bracket. Ensure this dimension is the same on both sides of the microwave.
Attach the microwave to the brackets, if the microwave has small installation holes on the bottom panel. Wall-mounted microwaves often have installation holes on the side, back or bottom panel for mounting. Use the small installation screws that come with the brackets or the microwave to secure the microwave to the brackets.
