How to Change a GE Profile Microwave Lightbulb

"GE Profile" refers to a selection of GE appliances, such as refrigerators, stoves and microwaves, that feature a decorative theme. Most of the GE Profile microwave models feature halogen light bulbs under their front doors. These bulbs have a 120v, 20w capacity and feature the part number WB25X10019. The bulbs are protected by single glass plates featuring thin metal brackets around the outside edges. You can replace the inexpensive bulbs using a few basic household tools.

      Unplug the microwave from the electrical outlet. Locate the microwave's glass plate, which covers the light bulb.

      Loosen and remove the single screw fastener using a Phillips screwdriver. Gently slide the glass plate in the direction of the screw fastener hole to disengage the clips under each corner.

      Remove the bulb by grasping the base with pliers. Pull the bulb straight out to unclip it from the wire harness.

      Grasp the base of the replacement bulb with the pliers. Slide the base of the bulb into the wire harness until it is fully seated.

      Plug the microwave into the electrical outlet to ensure that the bulb is working properly. Unplug the microwave before replacing the glass plate.

      Place the glass plate into the microwave and secure it to the appliance's ceiling with the clips. Re-thread the screw fastener until its snug using a Phillips screwdriver.
