GE Profile Xl1400 Microwave Installation

The GE Profile XL1400 is an over-the-range microwave. That means the unit is installed over the oven range. This is convenient and saves kitchen space but it does require time, skill and effort to install one of these ovens. That being said, there is no need to panic. You can install an over-the-range microwave like the XL1400 on your own and in an hour or two.

Instructions

    • 1

Tape the included templates over the area where you intend to mount the microwave. The paper templates are labeled by area, such as the rear wall template. Use your level to ensure the templates are even on the wall and under the cabinets.

    • 2

Drill into the marked areas of the templates in order to form the support screw holes.

    • 3

Place your stud finder over the section marked "Wall Plate" on the wall template. Locate and mark studs along this area.

    • 4

Align the metal wall plate over the area marked on the wall template. Use the level to ensure it is even.

    • 5

Install the screws on the wall plate over the areas where you found the studs.

    • 6

Place the cord on the XL1400 over the top of the unit and have an assistant help you to lift the unit up.

    • 7

Tilt the microwave forward and hook the slots on the back of the microwave to the tabs on the wall plate.

    • 8

Hold the microwave in place and thread the power cord through the hole on the bottom of the cabinet.

    • 9

Hold the microwave against the wall and insert the alignment screws into the holes in the cabinets and into the screw holes at the top of the microwave.

    • 10

Tighten the screws and the unit will be secure. Plug the microwave cable in.
