How to Repair a KitchenAid Microwave Hinge

The door on your KitchenAid microwave is secured via two hinges on the left side of the door. If these hinges become loose or damaged, it can prevent you from properly shutting to door -- which prevents you from using the microwave. Much like on a regular door, you can tighten the hinge on a microwave door with the appropriate tools.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug your KitchenAid microwave and place it on a sturdy work surface.

    • 2

Turn the microwave on its side so you have access to both the top and bottom hinges.

    • 3

Insert the tip of your flat-head screwdriver under the hinge covers and pop the hinge covers off of the unit. This will expose the screws holding the hinges in place.

    • 4

Tighten any loose screws on the hinges. If the metal hinge itself is broken, it must be replaced.

    • 5

Remove the screws holding the hinge in place and remove the hinge. Fit a new hinge over the unit and replace the screws.
