How Do I Disassemble the Microwave Door on a Frigidaire?

A damaged handle or interior door latch can cause problems for your Frigidaire microwave. In both instances, the components will need to be replaced, requiring the disassembly of the microwave door. These doors come apart quickly and easily, requiring just one tool and no special mechanical expertise. Once the door is disassembled, you will have access to replace the handle or other parts as needed.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the microwave from the electrical outlet.

    • 2

Open the microwave door and insert the tip of a small flat-head screwdriver underneath the edge of the plastic panel around the glass on the interior side of the door.

    • 3

Work your way along the panel with the screwdriver, disengaging the clips, until it pops off the door. Remove the panel.

    • 4

Insert the tip of your screwdriver in the seam where the metal frame meets the body of the door. Work your way around the frame, popping the internal frame clips as you go.

    • 5

Continue until the frame separates from the rest of the door, giving you access to the back of the front panel.

    • 6

Remove any screws holding the door handle in place and remove the handle.
