Instructions for Admiral Microwave Oven KSA 8575A

Admiral is the brand name for a variety of handy home appliances, including microwaves. Built by the Whirlpool Corporation, some Admiral microwaves, like Model KSA 8575A offer variable cooking times, preprogrammed options for a variety of foods often cooked in microwaves, such as popcorn, and an option for locking the keypad to prevent accidents.

Instructions

    • 1

Plug the microwave into the closest electrical outlet that accepts three-pronged plugs. The microwave comes with a short power cord to prevent tangling.

    • 2

Set the digital clock at the top of the touchpad control panel to the right of the oven door. Touch the "Stop/Clear" key to clear the default clock display. Touch the "Clock'' key and touch the appropriate numbers for the current time. For example, if the time is 12:30, touch the 1, 2, 3 and 0 keys in that order. Once you have the proper time entered, touch "Clock" again to set the time.

    • 3

Touch the number keys to enter your desired cooking time. If you want the oven to cook for three minutes, touch the "3" key pad. Touch "Power Level" and then the number for the percentage of 100 percent power desired. For example, touch "Power Level" and then 2. The screen will display "P-20," indicating that the oven is set to cook at 20 percent power. Touch "Start" to begin cooking.

    • 4

Touch the number keys to enter a time for two- or three-stage cooking. Touch "Power Level" to set the timer for the first stage. For 100 percent power in the first cooking stage, simply touch "Power Level" a second time.

    • 5

Touch the number keys to set the timer for the second cooking stage, then press "Power Level" followed by the power level desired -- "5" for 50 percent, "7" for 70 percent, for example. Repeat for the third stage, if needed. Touch "Start" to begin cooking.

    • 6

Touch "Instant Minute" for a preprogrammed cooking time of one minute at 100 percent power. Touch the button again while the oven is working to extend the time.

    • 7

Use the "Custom Defrost" key to begin setting the oven to defrost. Touch the key twice. "LBS." will flash on the screen. Enter the weight of the food using the number keys. Touch "2" and then "0" for two pounds, for example. Touch "Start." When the timer sounds, open the oven, rearrange the food, close the door and push "Start" again. Repeat when the timer goes off the third time.

    • 8

Press any of the preprogrammed cooking keys to have the oven perform those functions. For instance, pressing "Beverage" will, after a 2-second delay, turn the oven on long enough to heat a 1/2-cup beverage. Each key is labeled with the type of product the oven will automatically cook.
