How to Change the Fuse in a Jenn-Air M167 Microwave

When your Jenn-Air M167 microwave stops working, pinpoint the cause. Check the power cord to ensure it's still plugged into the outlet. Also, check that the breaker is on. If the microwave still doesn't work, change the fuse. The fuse in the microwave prevents damage if there's a power surge, as the filament in the fuse will break before the surge has a chance to damage the appliance. Replacing the fuse takes only a few minutes and requires no special tools.

Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet before you begin. If the microwave is hard-wired to the kitchen circuit, turn off the circuit breaker.

Remove the front grill from the microwave by pulling it off. Remove the screw securing the control panel to the microwave using a Phillips screwdriver. Pull the control panel away from the appliance, and then unplug the wiring harness from the control panel.

Remove the old fuse from the box in the appliance behind the control panel. Place the new fuse in the microwave. Plug the wiring harness into the control panel -- and then install the control panel and tighten the retaining screw.

Place the front grill on the microwave and snap it into place. Plug the power cord into the electrical outlet, or turn the circuit breaker on to restore power to the microwave. Program the microwave according to the manufacturer's instructions.
