Troubleshooting an Amana AMV6177 Oven

Inspect your home circuit breakers or fuses if the oven does not power on at all. A blown fuse or a tripped breaker will stop the flow of current and render your oven inoperable. If the oven powers on normally, but the interior light does not turn on, check the bulb. If the bulb is blown or damaged, replace it and test again.

Check your cookware if you witness electrical flashes occurring inside the oven during the microwave cooking process. If your cookware is not microwave safe or contains any metal, electrical current may jump to it from the oven wall. Replace your cookware with microwave-safe items and try again.

Compare the current microwave power level to the level mentioned in the specific recipe you are using if your food comes out under- or overcooked. Most recipes will mention the expected power or wattage of a microwave in the cooking directions. If your microwave is more or less powerful than the recipe model, you may have to adjust the suggested cooking time accordingly. Partially frozen foods, incorrect power level selections and oddly shaped foods can also be a cause of your food failing to cook properly.

Plug your Amana AMV6177 oven into its own outlet. Since the oven draws a large amount of power during certain cooking cycles, it is important that there are no other electrical devices draining power from the outlet at the same time. Shared outlets can result in reduced cooking power and undercooked meals. Check that your plug is firmly inserted into the outlet. Loose plugs can also affect cooking performance as well as cause the digital screen to flash on and off.

Press the "Stop/Clear" button whenever a warning or fault code appears on your Amana AMV6177 oven's digital display. This button should remove the code and allow normal operations to begin again.
