Removing a GE JVM290BV Convection Oven

The GE JVM290BV built-in microwave oven sits above your stove and provides a hood vent for the stove. The microwave hangs below a cabinet and is usually placed between two long cabinets that run flush with the bottom of the microwave. Removal of the microwave only takes a few minutes and it will not damage your cabinetry.

      Disconnect the power cord for the GE microwave from the electrical outlet. In many cases, it is located in the cabinet above the microwave.

      View the interior of the cabinet, located above the microwave, and find the two screws that are inserted into the metal panel above the microwave. The panel is screwed into the cabinet’s floor.

      Ask someone to assist you and to hold the up the microwave by the bottom.

      Unscrew the screws, using a Phillips screwdriver, and then remove them from the cabinet. The microwave is also hung on a bracket so it should not move much once the screws are removed. The bracket is located underneath the microwave.

      Pull the microwave forward, toward you, and allow the front to tilt down at an angle.

      Push and lift the back of the microwave upward until it slides off the bracket.

      Remove the microwave from between the cabinets and set it down.
