Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the microwave from the electrical outlet in or near the kitchen cabinet opening. Open the microwave door and remove the glass tray.

    • 2

Remove the front grill of the microwave. Depending on the type of Whirlpool microwave, you may have to remove some screws or unhook a set of retention clips in order to release the grill.

    • 3

Have an assistant hold the microwave while you remove the screws that hold the microwave onto the mounting bracket. This will prevent it from falling out as soon as you loosen the last screw.

    • 4

Pull the Whirlpool over-the-stove microwave out of the mounting bracket and tilt it forward until it slides free of the cabinet. Unhook the back of the microwave from the mounting plate if your cabinet has one.

    • 5

Remove the microwave's power cord from the cabinet opening. You may have to thread it through a hole in the cabinet, depending on the design of your kitchen.
