Hotpoint microwaves are manufactured by the General Electric company. There are many models of Hotpoint microwaves with various features and designs. If problems arise, the first step is to diagnose the possible causes. Through the troubleshooting process, many common problems that affect Hotpoint microwaves can be resolved.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert the three-prong plug on the microwave oven's power cord into a grounded wall outlet if the unit will not turn on. Check the fuse box or circuit breakers. Replace any blown fuses. Reset any tripped circuits.

    • 2

Unplug the microwave and plug it back in if it will not start after a power surge. The oven may turn off automatically as a safety feature if there's a power surge. Unplugging it and plugging it back in will reset it.

    • 3

Press and hold the "Clear/Off" button for three seconds if "LOC" appears on the display. Models with locks on the controls must be unlocked before they can be used.

    • 4

Reseat the glass tray if it does not rotate while operating the oven. Remove the wheel track and glass tray. Clean the floor of the oven to remove any debris that could be obstructing the wheel track. Replace the wheel track and glass tray, making sure they are properly seated.

    • 5

Open the door and close it securely if the oven will not start. The oven will not start if the door is open.

    • 6

Press the "Clear/Off" button if unable to enter a cooking program. A previously entered selection may not have been canceled.
