Jenn-Air Microwave Troubleshooting

Jenn-Air microwaves come in various sizes and styles, each with a unique set of features and functions. Many of the basic functions and characteristics of all models are similar. If problems occur with a Jenn-Air microwave, performing some troubleshooting steps will help diagnose possible causes. Once the cause of the problem has been determined, the situation can be resolved in many cases by completing the troubleshooting process.

Instructions

    • 1

Make sure the oven's power cord is properly inserted into a grounded wall outlet. If the outlet is connected to a wall switch, make sure the wall switch is turned on.

    • 2

Reset the electronics if the oven will not operate. Remove the plug from the wall outlet for at least 10 seconds, then plug the oven back in.

    • 3

Make sure the oven door is completely closed if the oven display works, but the power will not turn on. The microwave will not start if the door is not securely closed.

    • 4

Press the "Cancel" button twice to clear any programmed instructions if the oven will not start. Reprogram the cooking instructions and start the oven.

    • 5

Move the oven to its own 20 amp circuit power line if food is taking too long to cook. If another appliance is operating on the same circuit, it could cause a voltage drop when the microwave is in use.

    • 6

Remove any metal utensils or foil if there are sparks in the oven. Most models are not designed to handle metallic objects.

    • 7

Clean the turntable if it sticks or makes noises. Remove the turntable and roller ring. Wash with a soft cloth and liquid detergent. Clean the bottom of the microwave where the roller ring sits. Replace the roller ring and turntable, making sure the turntable sits properly on the roller ring.
