How to Change a Light Bulb in a GE Profile JE1590 Microwave

General Electric (GE) Profile microwaves include quick cooking features with convection waves as well as microwaves. The inside of the microwave model JE1590 lights when the door is open and when the microwave is in use for a bright visual of the food inside. Occasionally the appliance light bulb will burn out and need replacement.

Instructions

  Unplug the Profile JE1590 microwave from its electrical outlet.

  Turn the microwave with the front door facing the wall on the counter top.

  Place a Phillips screwdriver on a screw of the small panel on the microwave rear. Turn the screwdriver counterclockwise three turns to loosen the screw.

  Loosen each of the remaining three screws by turning them counterclockwise three turns.

  Loosen and remove all four screws by pulling them straight out of the light bulb panel. Set the screws aside.

  Pull the light bulb panel straight out and off the microwave. Set the panel aside.

  Grasp the old light bulb with one hand. Push the bulb into the socket and turn the bulb counterclockwise to unscrew it. Dispose of the old light bulb.

  Place a new light bulb in the socket and turn it clockwise to tighten it in the socket.

  Place the panel on the microwave and replace each screw by turning them clockwise until tight with a Phillips screwdriver.

  Turn the microwave around to its normal position on the counter top and plug the cord into the electrical outlet.
