How to Troubleshoot a GE Microwave JVM165BB005

The GE model JVM165BB005 Spacemaker microwave oven is designed for regular use in the home. When a problem occurs with the microwave, diagnosing the possible causes of the problem is the first step of the troubleshooting process. Some problems are related to specific features of the unit, while other problems prevent the microwave from turning on at all. Many common problems can be resolved by completing the troubleshooting steps after the cause of the problem is identified.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the microwave oven and plug it back in if it will not start. Unplugging it and plugging it back in resets the electronics of the unit.

    • 2

Open the door and close it securely if the oven will not turn on. If the door was left open, it may have shut the unit off.

    • 3

Press and hold the "Clear/Off" button for three seconds if "Locked" appears on the display. Holding this button down unlocks the control panel.

    • 4

Insert the temperature probe properly into the outlet on the inside of the microwave wall if "Bad Probe" or "Please Insert Probe" appears on the display.
