How to Remove a Spacesaver Microwave

Removing a GE Spacesaver microwave requires some help. The appliance is held in by supporting brackets. When they're released, there is nothing to prevent the microwave from falling down. The bracket screws are in the cabinet above the microwave which prevents one person from being able to hold the microwave and remove the brackets.

Open the cabinet above the microwave and unplug the power cord from the outlet.

Pull at each corner of the black plastic grill on the top front of the microwave to remove it. Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the two screws at the bottom edge of the top of the microwave. The screws are 4 inches from each corner.

Open the cabinet above the microwave to access the securing screws while your helper holds the bottom of the microwave.
