How to Uninstall a Microhood

When remodeling your kitchen, the microhood may need to be removed from the wall. If you have a microhood, which is a combination microwave and range hood, the mounting bolts will need to be removed. Bolts are used to secure the unit to the cabinet, above your stove or range. The unit is also attached to a mounting bracket on the wall.

  • Power drill

Instructions

      Open the door to the cabinet that is above the microhood unit. Locate the bolts that are used to secure the icrohood to the bottom of the cabinet.

      Place the socket wrench over one of the bolts and turn it counterclockwise to loosen the bolt. Repeat this step on the other bolt.

      Support the unit with one arm and continue turning the bolts counterclockwise, by hand, to remove them.

      Lift the unit off of the mounting plate and tilt it forward. Rest the unit on the support tabs that are on the bottom of the mounting bracket.

      Unplug the power cord and then pull it out of the cabinet. Lift the unit up and off of the support tabs. Set the unit down on the counter.

      Remove the mounting bracket from the wall with the power drill, if necessary.
