How to Troubleshoot FloorMate

The Hoover FloorMate is designed for hard floor cleaning. Like any other appliance, the FloorMate is subject to problems with mechanical parts or user error. When the machine doesn't perform normally, you can attempt to solve the problem through trial and error. You may be able to avoid having the appliance serviced.

Instructions

    • 1

Make sure the device is fully plugged into the wall. Use a voltage meter to check for voltage in the plug, or check the breaker box for a blown fuse or tripped breaker if the appliance won't run when plugged into the wall.

    • 2

Turn the cleaner on, off and on again, or empty the recovery tank if it has low or non-existent suction. Or, check the recovery tank to make sure the filter and filter lid are positioned correctly. Ensure both the recovery and solution tanks are locked in place. Clean the filter by removing and tapping to loosen debris or rinse it under running water. Allow to air dry before replacing. Make sure the nozzle is replaced properly and locked.

    • 3

Pour less concentrate into the solution tank to decrease foaming and eliminate water puddling on the floor. If the solution tank is not installed properly, or the recovery tank needs emptying, water may puddle.

    • 4

Press the wet/dry pedal to "Wet" setting to address the problem of the FloorMate failing to pick up the dirty solution. Make sure the recovery tank is properly installed and the filter and filter lid are correctly positioned. Remove and empty the recovery tank, and re-install to address the problem.

    • 5

Set the wet/dry pedal to "Dry" if the cleaner pushes debris in front of it, instead of picking it up. Tip the nozzle off the floor by pushing down on the handle, if the debris can't clear the squeegee.

    • 6

Make sure the solution tank is securely locked in place, or refill it if it is empty, in case the machine is not distributing the cleaning solution.

    • 7

Move the "wetdry pickup" setting on the machine to "wet scrub" if the brushes aren't rotating as you clean. Or, push the on/off switch down all the way, wait one minute and push it down again to reset the internal circuit breaker. Turn it on and continue cleaning. Turn the machine off and clean debris from the brushes if the problem persists.
