How Do I Troubleshoot a Panasonic Microwave Button Door That Keeps Sticking?

Panasonic microwaves come in a variety of color and style options that match other kitchen appliance colors. When the door of the microwave sticks and doesn't open, the microwave may have a problem with the hinges that allow the door to open and close.

Instructions

Run a hand along the bottom of the microwave to check if the door is lined up properly with the bottom of the microwave. If the door is slightly up or down from the bottom of the microwave, the door did not catch properly in the hinges. Push the door up while holding the release button to unhook it from the hinges. Push the door down while holding the release button if the door was slightly up from the bottom of the microwave.

Look at the door hooks and the release mechanism on the inside of the microwave. Unplug and clean them if there is anything stuck on that might interfere with proper usage.

Look at the door switch. Typical damage to the switch is overheating and melting plastic that interferes with proper usage. If this is the case, replacing the door switch is the only way to fix the microwave door. A professional should replace the door switch to avoid damage to the microwave or potential harm to the microwave owner.
