How do I Replace the Interior Light on a GE Microwave JE1860?

The GE JE1860 is a countertop microwave oven. Like most microwaves, the JE1860 has an interior light that illuminates when you open the microwave door. Eventually, the bulb's filament burns out, requiring you to replace the bulb. Getting the interior light to work again requires installing a special 25-watt light bulb, which is available from GE or appliance parts retailers. Unlike a regular oven's light bulb, access to the JE1860's bulb is at the rear of the microwave, not inside the appliance.

Unplug the microwave power cord from the wall receptacle. Turn the microwave around so that you can access the rear of the unit.

Press the bulb inward gently with your fingers, and turn it counterclockwise to remove it. Insert the new light bulb. Turn it clockwise to secure it in the socket.
