How to Troubleshoot a General Electric JES1244 1000 Watt Microwave Oven

Your General Electric JES1244 1000 watt microwave oven is designed to be easy to use. However, a microwave oven is a complicated piece of equipment, which means there are relatively few ways to home-troubleshoot the device without training as a microwave repairman. If troubleshooting the most common types of problems with the microwave does not work, it is time to call a repairman. Any attempt to fix the microwave oven on your own beyond the manufacturer-recommended troubleshooting steps will void your microwave oven's warranty and possibly damage it beyond repair.

Instructions

  1. The Microwave Oven Will Not Start/Turn On

    • 1

Check the microwave's plug to make sure that its prongs are fully inserted into the outlet.

    • 2

Unplug the microwave, then plug it back in. A power surge may have interrupted the power supply.

    • 3

Open the door and shut it securely. If the door is slightly ajar, the microwave oven will not start.

    • 4

Check the fuse or circuit breaker that controls the outlet into which your microwave oven is plugged. The problem may originate with the power supply. Replace the fuse or reset the circuit breaker if necessary.
