Sharp Microwave Oven Specifications

Sharp is a main producer of kitchen appliances. It is also a leading electronics manufacturer and produces five different types of microwave ovens. The different models include the convection microwave oven, SuperSteam ovens, conventional microwave ovens, built-in oven kits and commercial microwave ovens. The company has more than 40 years in the kitchen appliance industry and is dedicated to meeting all of your kitchen needs.
  1. Dimensions

    • Ensure that the dimensions of the microwave meet the space in your kitchen where you will place it, which is particularly important for Sharp microwaves that are not freestanding but are mounted into the wall. Several different sizes are available to choose from, so measure your counter space before going microwave shopping.

    Oven Capacity

    • Look into the oven capacity of the microwave oven, which refers to the space inside the oven. The larger the oven the capacity, the more food or the larger food products that can be placed in the microwave. If you tend to use your microwave for cooking, roasts, entire chickens and other large products, a larger capacity microwave is best. The turntable size also relates to the oven capacity. Larger ovens will have larger turntables.

    Maximum Power Consumption

    • The maximum power of the microwave needs to be matched to the power source in your home. The maximum power is listed in watts. Ensure that the power source you will plug the microwave into can handle this amount of power. If not, expect that the microwave will take longer to heat items up or you may even find that you are frequently shorting out fuses. If your power source does not meet the maximum needed power, use a power amplifier with your desired microwave.

    Maximum Microwave Power

    • Your microwave's maximum amount of power is also measured in watts but refers to the amount of power used on the highest microwave heat setting. Microwaves with larger numbers can generate higher temperatures than those with lower settings. When using the microwave, this setting refers to the 100 percent power as some microwaves do not show the amount of Watts except in the specifications found in the owner's manual.

    Cooking Programs

    • This will list the number of cooking programs that come with the Sharp microwave. Most Sharp products will have several cooking programs. Some common programs include popcorn, reheat, defrost functions, reheat functions, a cooking function, keep warm and melt program. The number of programs included will depend on the microwave model.

    Settings

    • The Sharp microwave will come with several different settings. Each microwave will have several power levels that can be used. Different timer settings include minute plus, a timer, clock and auto touch controls. These will differ depending on the machine.
