How to Remove a Wall Mounted Over the Range GE Microwave

Mounting a microwave oven on the wall and underneath a cabinet requires the installer to be very precise with his measurements and drilling techniques. The good news about removing a wall-mounted over-the-range GE microwave is that the process is much easier and quicker than installing it was in the first place. You may need a helper to stabilize the microwave as you take it off the wall mount.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the microwave. The outlet is in the cabinet above the microwave.

    • 2

Ask a helper to place his hands under the microwave to stabilize it.

    • 3

Turn the screwdriver counter-clockwise to remove the screws from inside the cabinet. Turn the screws until they are completely disengaged from the holes in the top of the microwave.

    • 4

Pull the screws upward and out of the cabinet and set them aside.

    • 5

Ask your helper to slightly drop his hands so that the front of the microwave leans down and forward.

    • 6

Place your hands at the back of the bottom of the microwave so that they are next to the wall.

    • 7

Press upward to remove the microwave from the wall mount slots. For best results, press with one hand and stabilize the microwave with the other hand.

    • 8

      Set the microwave aside.
