How to Fix Kraft Mac & Cheese in the Microwave

While Kraft Macaroni and Cheese dinner is usually made on the stove in a pan, it can also easily be prepared in a microwave oven with just a few simple tweaks to the original recipe. Microwave preparation allows you to enjoy this cheesy treat in places you may not have a stove, from the lunch room to the dorm room.

Instructions

    • 1

Add pasta and hot water to a large microwavable container and lightly stir. Set the cheese sauce powder packet aside.

    • 2

Heat the pasta and water mixture for approximately 8 to 9 minutes on high. Stop the microwave every 2 to 3 minutes and stir the pasta to prevent sticking and clumping together.

    • 3

Fish out one piece of macaroni and taste it to make sure the pasta is tender, and stir once more.

    • 4

Add the cheese sauce powder packet, milk and butter or margarine into the cooked pasta and stir until the pasta is well-coated in cheese sauce and the butter or margarine is completely melted.

    • 5

Add salt or pepper, if desired.

    • 6

      Serve immediately.
