How to Remove an Over the Stove Microwave From the Wall

An over-the-stove microwave is secured by inserting screws through the bottom of a cabinet and into the top of the microwave, then inserting the microwave into the tabs of a wall mount. Making the exact measurements needed to ensure your microwave is properly installed can be painstaking and tedious. The process required to remove an over-the-stove microwave is much more simple and can be completed in less than five minutes.

     Remove the microwave plug from the wall outlet.

     Ask another person to help you by holding the bottom of the microwave.

   • 3

     Turn the screwdriver counterclockwise to remove the screws from the top of the microwave. The tops of these screws are found in the bottom of the cabinet directly above the microwave.

     Have your assistant slightly tilt the bottom of the front of the microwave.

     Press upward firmly on the back of the microwave to remove its back panel from the wall mount's tabs. Set the microwave aside.
