According to the Southwest Museum of Engineering, Communication and Computation, the microwave was created by accident in 1946. The first microwaves were massive in design, standing 5 1/2 feet tall and weighing 750 lbs., a far cry from the portable, light-weight models available today. Frigidaire manufactures countertop, built-in and over-the-range units that include interior lights. A burned-out interior light does not affect the Frigidaire microwave's ability to cook, but creates an inconvenience when attempting to observe the cooking process. Change the light bulb in your older model Frigidaire microwave to watch your food's progress.
