How to Unlock a GE Spacemaker Microwave

The GE Spacemaker line of microwave ovens is a series of microwaves designed to be installed over your stove, rather than consuming valuable counter space. The microwaves include a light and hood fan on the underside, a removable oven rack and a cubic capacity of 1.5 cubic feet. The Spacemaker contains a hidden feature that allows you to lock the microwave controls to prevent unwanted use. The oven lock can be turned on and off at any time, with just the touch of a button.

     Determine whether the control panel is locked. You can tell that the controls are locked by pressing any button on the microwave. If "Locked," "Loc" or the letter "L" appear on the display, the control panel is locked.

     Locate the button labeled "Clear/Off," located on the right side of the microwave control panel.

     Press and hold the "Clear/Off" button for approximately three seconds.

     Release the "Clear/Off" button when the word "Locked," "Loc" or the letter "L" disappear from the display.
