How to Install a Sharp Microwave Oven

Microwave ovens are almost a necessity in the lives of busy families. Whether you are baking, thawing meat or reheating a meal, microwave ovens are huge timesavers. When you first bring your Sharp microwave oven home, it is important to know how to set it up and install it properly. An improper set up or installation can cause your Sharp microwave oven to not work or decrease its lifespan from short circuiting.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove your Sharp microwave oven from its box. Ask someone to hold the sides of the box while you pull the microwave out. Open the door and remove any packaging found inside the microwave. Peel off any stickers from the outside of the microwave.

    • 2

Look your Sharp microwave oven over for any damage. Make sure the door opens and closes properly. If you notice any dents or damage, do not use the microwave. Return it to the store where you purchased it.

    • 3

Place your Sharp microwave oven on an area of countertop that is easily accessible to you. Make sure there is an outlet nearby and that the microwave can be at least 2 inches from all walls to allow for proper air circulation. Do not put the microwave close to the stove.

    • 4

Remove the twist tie from around the power cord and stretch the cord out. The Sharp microwave oven has a 3-prong plug, so you'll need to plug it into an outlet that allows for grounding. If possible, make sure the microwave is the only appliance plugged into this circuit.

    • 5

Turn the plug so that the two flat prongs are on the top and the round grounding plug is on the bottom. Line up each prong with the proper holes in your electrical outlet. Gently push the plug into the outlet. Do not force it.
