How to Replace a Hotpoint Microwave

Hotpoint over-the-range microwaves include a number of settings that are designed to make your cooking experience more convenient. Among these features are auto and time defrost settings and custom-cooking controls. If you find another microwave that you think will work better than your Hotpoint microwave, or if you find another Hotpoint microwave oven you want to use, you can replace your current microwave with another model without reinstalling a new wall mount.

Instructions

  1. Uninstall the Old Microwave

    • 1

Open the cabinet just above the microwave and unplug the power cord from the outlet.

    • 2

Ask a helper to hold the bottom of the microwave to provide some stabilization while you unscrew the screws at the bottom of the cabinet that hold the top of the microwave to the bottom of the cabinet.

    • 3

Pull the screws up through the holes once they are loose. Set them aside.

    • 4

Request your helper to slightly tilt the front of the microwave forward.

    • 5

Push upward firmly on the back of the microwave to remove the microwave's back panel from the small tabs at the bottom of the wall mount.

    • 6

Keep both hands on the microwave and set it aside with the assistance of your helper.

    Install the New Microwave

    • 7

Pick up the new microwave with the help of your assistant.

    • 8

Hold the microwave flat against the wall mount and flush against the bottom of the cabinet.

    • 9

Move the microwave slightly downward slowly until the tabs at the bottom of the wall mount insert themselves into the insertion points at the bottom of the back panel.

    • 10

Reinsert the screws through the bottom of the cabinet and into the top of the microwave while your helper continues to hold the bottom of the microwave. Tighten the screws with a screwdriver.
