Convection Microwave Uses

A convection microwave oven is a combination of a convection oven and a microwave. The microwave function cooks like any microwave, extracting moisture from the food to create steam around it to cook it. The convection part of the oven works differently, using traditional electric heat that is forced by air. This maintains air temperature inside the oven so it cooks foods evenly and quickly. Several options exist for using a convection microwave in place of a regular microwave or conventional oven.
  1. Baked Goods

    • Bake cookies, pies and even cakes in your convection microwave. Use the convection oven function to do this. The settings on the convection oven may need to be slightly lowered, both time and temperature, from what you would normally use with a conventional oven. Baked goods come out moist and evenly cooked because of the constant hot airflow within the oven.

    Microwave Dinners

    • Microwaveable foods can be cooked, as usual, in a convection microwave. The settings need to be adjusted to microwave mode in order to work like any microwave would. The same goes for reheating foods like you would in a microwave, though the convection function may do a better job with foods like pizza that contain breads.

    Roasts and Casseroles

    • The convection feature of the microwave oven can work like a conventional oven to cook roasts, casseroles and vegetables. Use your convection microwave to cook any of these items at a slightly lower temperature than the recipe calls for. Even your Thanksgiving turkey can be roasted if the oven cavity is large enough to accommodate it without restricting airflow.
