How to Replace the Handle on My Frigidaire Built-In Microwave

Frigidaire manufactures many models of microwaves, available in both countertop and over-the-range designs that are built into the cabinets above your range or cooktop. A Frigidaire over-the-range microwave has its door handle on the right side of the door. The door handle is secured using two screws that are covered by a plastic ring on the inside of the door. Because the handle is regularly pulled and pushed, it may break, crack or warp, at which point opening the door may become difficult. If the handle is damaged, a new one can be quickly installed, allowing you to once again open and close your Frigidaire microwave with ease.

Instructions

    • 1

      Open the microwave door.

    • 2

Pry the plastic ring surrounding the microwave glass off the door using a flat-head screwdriver or other flat object such as a butter knife or putty knife. The plastic ring is secured using tabs, so be careful when prying as the ring can snap if too much pressure is applied.

    • 3

Remove the two screws securing the door handle to the door, using a Phillips-head screwdriver, then remove the door handle.

    • 4

Install the new door handle by placing it against the door and inserting the screws that you removed from the old door handle. Tighten to secure.

    • 5

Replace the plastic ring by aligning it with the grooves and pressing it into place.
