How to Remove a Sharp Over the Stove Microwave

Installing a Sharp over the stove microwave is complicated because you need to make exact measurements, drill holes and lift the microwave. Relatively speaking, removing a Sharp over the stove microwave is a more straightforward process, as there is no need for measurements or drilling. Due to the weight and awkwardness of holding the microwave when you take it down, this process is easier to complete if you have another person helping you.

Open the cabinet just above the microwave. Locate the power outlet inside and unplug the microwave's power cord.

    • 2

Request that your helper hold on to the bottom of the microwave to provide support while you unscrew the screws that connect the microwave to the bottom of the cabinet. Your helper will not need to bear the full weight of the microwave, as it will still be connected to the wall.

Place your screwdriver in the screws in the bottom of the kitchen cabinet. These screws go through the cabinet and into specific holes in the top of the microwave. Turn your screwdriver counterclockwise to remove the screws. Place the screws to the side as they are removed.

Request that your helper slightly tilt the microwave forward.

    • 5

Press firmly with the palm of your hand on the back left corner of the microwave to remove the appliance from the wall mount's tab. If pressing doesn't work, you may need to perform a couple of blunt strikes with the palm of your hand. Once the microwave's left side lifts up out of the tab, repeat this step on the right side. Remember to hold on to the microwave from the back with your other hand so it does not fall when you remove it from the tabs on the wall mount.

Place the microwave to the side. It is now fully removed.
