How to Fix a Light Bulb in a Panasonic Microwave Oven

Panasonic is well-known for making dependable consumer electronics such as TVs, music players and DVD players. The company also offers customers a complete line of microwave ovens. Like nearly anything electronic, though, sometimes the microwaves need a little maintenance, such as when the bulb light burns out and needs replacing. This is a quick, do-it-yourself job.

Things You'll Need

  • New bulb

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the microwave from its wall outlet before commencing any repairs to prevent accidents. Pop open the door, slide out the glass tray in the microwave and set aside. Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to unscrew each of the two holding screws on either side of the bulb cover (located on the upper-right side of the microwave's interior).

    • 2

Remove the screws once they're loose and gently pry the cover down. It'll be connected via a tabbed hinge at the bottom, so pull the cover away a slight bit from the microwave and pull upward on the cover to completely remove it.

    • 3

Pinch the small bulb and turn it in a counterclockwise direction to loosen it. Remove it once it's loose and discard or use the bulb as a reference when shopping for a replacement. Once you have the new bulb, screw into the unit, turning in a clockwise direction.

    • 4

Replace the cover and screw the holding screws back into place to secure the cover. Replace the glass tray, close the door and plug the microwave unit back into the wall outlet. Open the door; the light should come on if you installed it properly. If the light doesn't come on, retrace your steps to make sure you screwed the new bulb in properly.
