How to Troubleshoot Roper Microwaves

Roper appliances are now part of the Whirlpool Corporation. Whirlpool Corporation acquired the Roper brand in 1989, prior to which it was a German-based company. Roper makes a number of household appliances such as microwave ovens, refrigerators, washers, dryers and ranges. The appliances manufactured by Roper are affordable and are designed to be durable. However, appliances do wear over time and, with extended use, may not work properly. Troubleshooting a Roper microwave oven can involve a few different checks.

Instructions

    • 1

Make sure the power cord is properly plugged into the electrical outlet. Check the power cord for cuts and breaks. Inspect the cord for burns as well. Any of these problems will cause a Roper microwave not to work or heat properly.

    • 2

Check the Roper's door latch alignment and interlock switch. Roper microwaves, as with any brand, do not turn-on and/or heat if the door latch or interlock switch is not properly aligned.

    • 3

Pull the Roper microwave oven from its mounted position and open the rear fuse panel. Check the fuses for breaks or burns.

    • 4

Make sure the door hinges are properly aligned and the door is creating a complete seal when in the closed position. If not properly sealed, the microwave may not function properly.
