A microhood combines a microwave and a range hood for fume ventilation of the stove cook top. Instead of just a range hood, the area has been multitasked to function in two separate ways for optimum counter usage.
Requirements for a microhood mimic those for a range hood. Verify the spacing above the oven/stove range, which can vary from an industry standard of 30 to 36 inches in width, so that the microhood fits snugly in the prior range hood space. In addition, check the electrical wiring that the range hood left open. Most are hard wired in, so it may be necessary to install an electrical outlet for the microhood's plug assembly.
It is recommended that the venting for the microhood is ducted out the same way the range hood functioned. Recirculating the fumes inside the home can cause moisture damage, so make sure that the prior ducting is clear and install the microhood as described in the manual for peak ventilation.
