Instructions

    • 1

Read all the instructions for your GE Profile Spacemaker XL carefully before beginning the installation process.

    • 2

Remove the two screws holding the mounting plate to the top of the microwave when unpacking it. These two screws can be discarded.

    • 3

Use a stud finder to locate the studs on the wall in the area above your stove and oven where you will be installing the microwave. Pinpoint the center by testing the wall with a small nail to find the edges, once you have located the studs, use a pencil to mark the halfway point between the edges. The center of any adjacent studs should be 16 inches or 24 inches from this mark. Draw a line down the center of the studs. The microwave has to be mounted on at least one wall stud.

Use a level to make sure the bottom of the cabinet where you'll be mounting the microwave is level.

    • 5

Align the wall plate on the back wall and line up the notch and center line on the bottom of the mounting plate to the center line you drew earlier. While holding the mounting plate with one hand, draw four circles on the wall through the four mounting holes on the wall plate.

    • 6

Use your drill to drill a 3/16-inch hole in the studs for wood screws.

    • 7

Remove the toggle wings from the bolts. Insert the bolts into the mounting plate through the holes on the mounting framer and reattach the toggle wings to each bolt. Set the mounting plate against the wall and insert the toggle wings into the holes in the wall. Tighten all the bolts with a screwdriver.

Check to see if your microwave was shipped for recirculation exhaust. If it was, proceed to the next step. If it wasn't, take off the screw that holds blower plate to the microwave. It is located on the top of the microwave. Lift the blower plate off, and then slide the adapter to one side and slip it off. Remove the blower motor screw and pull the blower motor out. Roll the blower unit 90 degrees so fan blade openings face the front of the microwave. Slide the blower motor back in and replace the blower motor screw. Also replace the blower plate and screw.

Drill a hole through the bottom of the cabinet above where you will mount the microwave and sip the power cord through.

    • 10

Lift microwave, lean it forward, and hook slots at the back bottom edge onto four lower tabs of mounting the plate. Rotate the front of the oven against the cabinet bottom and then insert a self-aligning screw through top center cabinet hole. Temporarily secure the oven by turning the screw two full turns.

    • 11

Attach the microwave oven to the top cabinet and insert two self-aligning screws through the outer top cabinet holes. Turn them slightly. Fully tighten the center screw and then tighten the two outer top screws.

    • 12

Open the microwave door and use a screwdriver to remove the front grill. Place the charcoal filter in, and then replace the front grill and screw. Plug the microwave in.
