Dacor Microwave Repair Tips

Dacor produces consumer appliances, including microwave ovens. Dacor designs its products to work without any problems. You can generally fix common issues with your microwave if it isn't working correctly. Only attempt minor repairs on your microwave, as it can shock you even if it's unplugged. If you are experiencing a major problem with your microwave, either replace the unit or contact a qualified technician to service it.
  1. Power Issues

    • You must plug your Dacor microwave directly into a wall outlet. Do not use an extension cord or an adapter. Avoid plugging in another appliance in the same circuit as the microwave, as this can draw power away from the microwave. Check your home fuses and circuit breaker, and change out blown fuses. Reset the circuit breaker, if tripped. If these solutions don't resolve the problem, examine the door release button and hooks. If these items are defective, you must either fix them or replace the door.

    Turntable

    • The turntable is the plate that rotates your food. The turntable will not move if you do not properly place it on the carousel. Remove the plate, and reposition it properly on the carousel. If the turntable still won't move, clean the carousel and the area around the turntable. If it still won't turn, remove the bottom section of the microwave and the carousel components. Look at the motor for the carousel. Replace the motor if it doesn't turn easily or if it is corroded.

    Arcing

    • If you see sparks or mini-lightning inside your Dacor microwave, stop the microwave and remove any cookware with silver or gold trim. Do not place any type of metal in your microwave. Clean the microwave to remove split foods or liquids. If these leftover items leave burn spots in your microwave, thoroughly clean the area, and sand down the burn spots. You can use microwave interior paint to cover up the area that you just sanded. If you see burn spots on the wave guide, replace the component.

    Additional Issues

    • Your Dacor microwave display may normally flicker during the cooking process. If it does this a lot, you may have a circuitry problem. You may also have a circuitry issue if your microwave shuts off during the cooking process. Contact a qualified technician to repair this problem. If your door gets stuck in place, check the door gaskets, and clean them if they are dirty. If the gaskets are really worn, replace them. Worn gaskets can also cause the microwave to interfere with surrounding appliances. If the gaskets aren't the issue, move the other appliances further away from the microwave.
