If the microwave won't start, check that the door is completely closed and that you have selected a cooking setting. Clean the door gaskets if the door is not closing properly. Press "Start". Check the power cord to see if it's securely in the outlet. Do not plug in another appliance in the same circuit as the microwave. This draws power away from the JVM1631BB002 microwave. Unplug the microwave for about one minute, and plug it back in. Try restarting the cooking cycle. Examine your household fuses, and install new ones if they are blown. Turn back on the circuit breaker if tripped. Change out the door if the door latch or release is broken. Replace the microwave's internal fuse if blown.
If you see the word "Locked" on the display, you have locked the controls. Hold down the "Clear/Off" button for approximately three seconds to clear the error and release the controls. Your microwave normally makes some noise while cooking. If you hear a beeping sound, this indicates that you have tried to adjust the power level. You cannot adjust the power level on this microwave. Or, it means that you have not inputted a time of day into the "Reminder" setting. You must select a time for this feature to work.
The carousel is the part of the microwave that turns the turntable, which is the plate on which your food sets. If the turntable is not turning properly, verify that you have correctly positioned the turntable on the carousel. The bottom of the turntable fits into the grooves in the carousel. Clean the turntable bottom, the floor of the microwave and the carousel. If the carousel still won't turn, unplug the microwave, and remove the floor of the microwave. Replace the carousel motor if burnt out. Your microwave floor is normally warm even if you haven't used it since this is the location of the cooktop light.
If your microwave is not cooking your food, test your JVM1631BB002 model microwave's magnetron by placing 1 cup of water in the oven at the highest setting for about three minutes. If the water doesn't boil, the magnetron is defective. If your microwave has inconsistent cooking problems, this indicates a problem with internal connections and circuits. Contact a service technician to replace all of these components.
