How to Set the Night Light on a GE Microwave

GE-brand microwaves include a few models among the company's offerings that are built with functions that, while not related directly to cooking, help to increase the usefulness of the microwave as a whole. One of these functions is the night light present on several GE models. The night light creates a soft glow around the microwave, helping those roaming about the kitchen in the dark to see their way safely through, whether they're using the microwave directly, or something else within the room. The push-button function is simple to operate, and even comes with a method of setting the night light to work automatically at the time of your choosing.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the button marked "Surface Light" on the face of microwave's keyboard.

    • 2

Press the "Surface Light" button once to turn on the night light in bright mode. Press the button twice to turn the light on in night light mode, a dimmer version of the bright mode. Press three times to turn the light off.

    • 3

Set up the night light for automatic display by pressing the "Auto Nite Light" button on the keyboard.

    • 4

Use the keypad numbers to enter the time into the display for the night light to begin, and then press the "AM/PM" button to complete the starting time setup.

    • 5

Press the "Auto Nite Light" button again to set up the shutdown time for the night light. Key in the time you wish the light to turn off, followed by selecting "AM" or "PM."

    • 6

Press the "Auto Nite Light" button a third time to complete the setup. The light will remain on after the third press to show that you've enabled the feature. Press the button anytime thereafter to review the time settings, or press the button, followed by the "0" key, to turn off the night light settings.
