Locate the resistor on the Sharp R-1500 microwave circuit board. A resistor is a cylinder mounted vertically on the circuit board. It connects to the circuit board with two lead wires that you cannot see when looking at the resistor. The leads go though the board and solder to the back.
Flip the circuit board over and locate the solder connections for the resistor.
Bend the leads of a high wattage resistor so the tips of the leads are the same distance part as the solder joints for the capacitor solder points. Use either a 1.8 k or a 2.2 kilo ohm, 5- to 10-watt resistor.
Touch the leads of the capacitor to the leads of the resister for three to five seconds. The power stored in the capacitor will bleed into the resistor. Make sure you do not touch any of the metal leads while you discharge the capacitor.
