How to Operate a Whirlpool Microwave Model AKM 110D

The Whirlpool AKM 110D is a standard over-the-hood microwave unit with an electronic control panel, door latch and exhaust fan for use in conjunction with the range below. The microwave is one of the older Whirlpool models, but it is capable of performing standard functions and should operate well under most circumstances with standard maintenance and care. Operating the microwave is generally easy and straightforward.

      Press "Clock" to set the digital time display and use the number pads to enter in the correct time. Press "Clock" to confirm.

      Press the button on the door and pull the door out to open the microwave. Set items inside the microwave and shut the door. Note that metal utensils or metal items of any kind should never be placed inside the microwave, as damage or fire may result.

      Shut the microwave door and press the number pads for the desired amount of cooking time. Press "Start" to begin.

      Defrost frozen items in the microwave by pressing the "Defrost" button, followed by the desired amount of defrosting time. Press "Start" to begin.

      Remove items promptly from the microwave when cooking or defrosting is complete. Note that the use of oven mitts may be necessary, as food might be hot after cooking.

      Press "Vent" to use the exhaust fan if necessary. Press "Vent" again to turn the fan off.
