How to Troubleshoot a GE Profile Microwave That Will Not Heat Up

GE Profile microwaves can do a lot of things, like offer speed cooking, warm items, sense food temperature, broil, toast, and convection cook food. However, if it is not doing the basic operation it is meant to do, which is heat food, owners will need to check into some troubleshooting steps to determine if the problem is something they can solve. It is important to note, however, that some problems will require professional repair.

Instructions

    • 1

Look to see if the GE Profile microwave power cord is securely plugged into a live power outlet. The power cord cannot be loose for proper function. Move other appliances to a separate outlet if possible.

    • 2

Replace or reset the circuit breaker or fuse if blown or tripped.

    • 3

Unplug the GE microwave and wait several seconds before plugging it back in to reset.

    • 4

Make sure there are no current functions in use. Press "Clear/Off" to cancel any other settings or programs already in progress.

    • 5

Select a new cooking program and then select "Cook Time." Make a time selection and press the "Start/Pause" pad to begin cooking.
