How to Remove a Microwave Stain From a Plastic Bowl

The convenience of microwaving has an upside as well as a downside. On the positive side, you can have a delicious, full course meal ready in a short period of time. One of the shortcomings of using a microwave is it can potentially ruin good Tupperware. If you find you have tarnished one of your favorite plastic bowls, there are measures you can take to remove stains.

  • Dish Detergent

      Rinse any remaining substance from Tupperware as soon as possible. Mix a ratio of 3/4 water to 1/4 bleach in stained plastic bowl. Fill container to the brim and soak for 3 hours.

      Mix 3 tsp. salt and 1/4 cup vinegar to remove stains from Tupperware. Soak the mixture in tarnished bowl for 30 minutes. Clean with mild dish detergent and rinse thoroughly.

      Wash container with liquid dish detergent. Fill to the brim with a mix of water and 2 drops of liquid detergent. Set container, filled with liquid cleaning agent, in direct sun for 3 hours. Rinse thoroughly after soaking.
