Instructions

    • 1

Remove the two screws holding the mounting bracket in place at the back of the microhood using a screwdriver. Discard these screws; they aren't needed to complete the installation. Put the mounting bracket to the side where it can be accessed later.

    • 2

Remove the blower mounting plate, using a screwdriver. The blower mounting plate is at the top and back of the microhood. Three screws hold the plate in place, two on top and one on the backside of the plate.

    • 3

Remove the blower unit from inside the microhood, and disconnect the blower from the microwave at the connector point, which can be released by hand. Place the blower to one side.

    • 4

Use a small hammer to knock out two blower vents. The four vents on the microhood include two on the back of the microhood and two on the blower mounting plate. The two that need to be removed depends on how the system is vented. If it's wall vented, the two on the back of the microhood need to be removed. Roof vents require the blower vents on the blower mounting plate be removed.

    • 5

Replace the blower back into the microhood, reconnecting the wire connector. Align the blower fans from the blower with the two open blower vents that were removed in Step 4.

    • 6

Replace the blower mounting plate with a screwdriver.

    • 7

Find the center line of the microhood opening, using a measuring tape and plumb level. Use the tape measure to find the middle point of the opening, and mark it with a pencil. Use the level, holding it vertically, to find the vertical level. Draw a vertical line with the pencil to mark the center line of the opening. This helps set the mounting bracket later.

    • 8

Locate the studs inside the opening, using a stud finder. Mark the location of these studs, using the pencil. The bracket must be connected to studs in at least two points to hold the microwave and hood in place.

    • 9

Place the mounting bracket on the wall, aligning the center line created in Step 7 with the center of the mounting bracket. The open side of the bracket is at the top; the long section of the mounting bracket is at the bottom.

    • 10

Use a pencil to mark the holes labeled "A," "B," "C" and "D" with a pencil

    • 11

Drill a 3/16-inch hole for any of the marks that are over a stud. Drill a 3/4-inch hole for marks that are not over a stud.

    • 12

Apply the upper counter template, which should be included with the microhood, and mark holes "J" and "K" on the cabinet. This is where the microhood connects to the cabinet or ceiling above it.

    • 13

Drill a 3/8-inch hole in marks "J" and "K." Also, drill an access hole for the power cord to be pulled through if one doesn't exist.

    • 14

Mark holes on the long side of the mounting bracket, which is at the bottom, if holes "A,""B," "C" and "D" don't sit on a stud. The mounting brackets have many holes that will line up with a stud. If possible, mark at least two holes.

    • 15

Drill 3/16-inch holes for the added studded holes along the bracket bottom.

    • 16

Connect the mounting plate to the wall, using screws. Use lag screws for holes over a stud. Holes placed over drywall use the toggle bolts. The toggle bolt wings fit through the drilled hole opening and expand on the other side of the wall to help hold the bracket in place.

    • 17

Lift up the microhood toward the bracket with a friend. Snake the powercord through the hole. Hang the microhood on the support tabs of the mounting bracket.

    • 18

Insert bolts through the pre-drilled holes "J" and "K" to hold the microwave in place from the top.
