How to Take Out a Built-in Microwave

A built-in microwave oven connects below a cabinet, typically over a stove or range, to preserve kitchen counter space. The appliance literally hangs on the wall with a steel bracket, with support provided overhead by bolts through the cabinet bottom into the mounting holes on the top of the microwave. Recruit a friend to hold the appliance steady while you take out the hardware, a task that typically takes less than half an hour.

Open the cabinet doors over the microwave to locate and unplug the power cord for the appliance.
