Measure the width of the opening for the microhood with the tape measure. Mark the center of the wall with the pencil.
Find the location of the wall studs with the stud finder. Mark the location of the wall studs with the pencil.
Place the mounting plate template on the wall and align it with the center mark. Verify that the template is sitting level on the wall. The top of the template should be against the bottom of the top cabinet.
Mark the end holes and then draw a line along the bottom of the template to mark the lower edge of the mounting plate.
Set the mounting plate against the wall and align the bottom with the pencil line. Mark the location for the mounting holes. Make sure that the mounting holes are in the center of a stud.
Drill pilot holes in the wall on the mounting hole marks with the power drill. Insert lag screws into the mounting holes and tighten with the power drill.
Lift the microhood up to the wall with the assistance of a helper. Set the rear of the unit on the support tabs on the mounting plate. Tilt the unit forward slightly and run the power cord into the upper cabinet.
Push the microhood against the mounting plate. Insert lag screws through the upper cabinet and into the top of the unit. Tighten with the power drill or a screwdriver.
