How to Reset the Switch for a Magic Chef Gas Oven

After you have experienced a power outage in your home, there may be technical issues when trying to use your Magic Chef gas oven. When a burner is turned on, the unit checks the gas valves' solenoids for continuity; and if the check fails, then the unit will lock out so that it cannot be used. The lockout switch can typically be turned on during a power outage; then the switch can easily be reset by restarting the power for the oven.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on one of the burners on your Magic Chef gas oven then wait at least four seconds to see if the unit begins working again.

    • 2

Press the "Off" button on the top control panel if no heat comes from the burner after an additional 30 seconds.

    • 3

Pull your oven away from the wall and check the power outlet. If the power supply for the oven is plugged into an AC wall outlet, unplug it.

    • 4

Check the circuit breaker in your home to make sure the power to the oven and kitchen appliances is turned on. If there is a power outage, you may need to contact your utility provider.

    • 5

Plug the power supply back into the wall and move your oven back into place. Press the "On" button on the control panel.

    • 6

Turn on a burner again to test its function. The switch should be fully reset, and heat should come from the burner.
