How to Troubleshoot a GE Model JVM1850BF001

The GE JVM1850BF001 is a microwave that is not currently manufactured by the GE Corporation. The microwave has a spinning turntable, an oven rack that can be placed in two positions, three speed ventilation system, quick defrost and an electronic display panel. The microwave is designed to be installed over the range and includes a ventilation system for odors and steam produced on the stove top. Troubleshooting potential problems with the microwave can typically eliminate the issues without requiring professional service, as many microwave problems are user generated.

Instructions

    • 1

Connect the GE microwave power cord to a grounded three-prong outlet if the microwave is not working or replace/reset the circuit breaker or fuse if the microwave is built into the electrical system.

    • 2

Hold "Clear/Off" on the control panel if the key pads on the microwave will not function and the microwave does not start. Wait three seconds and release. Open and shut the door if the microwave does not start once a new selection is made.

    • 3

Press "Clock" and use the number pads to enter the time of day if the microwave makes a low sounding beep, which means the time of day is not set.

    • 4

Select "Time Cook" if the "Sensor Reheat" option will not function as expected. Large amounts of food will not work with the sensor function.

    • 5

Wait to open the door until the time finishes counting down on the display if "Sensor Error" shows on the control panel. Add additional cooking time if necessary. Press "Time Cook" followed by the desired amount of time using the number pads and select "Start".
