How to Change the Charcoal Filter in an Over the Range Samsung Microwave Oven

Samsung over-the-range microwave ovens are built to accommodate an optional charcoal filter if the appliance is installed without venting through the cabinet and ceiling above. The part must be replaced with a new filter periodically for efficient performance. The filter compartment is built into the front of the Samsung along the top edge. Replacing the filter takes less than 15 minutes.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the electricity for the Samsung at the circuit breaker panel.

    • 2

Remove the screws on the top of the grille in the front of the appliance.

    • 3

Slide the grille slightly to the left to disengage the part and lift off the appliance.

    • 4

Install the new filter into the rectangular opening on the front edge of the microwave. The filter sits at an angle with the front edge turned down and the back edge resting on two tabs inside the microwave.

    • 5

Place the grille on the microwave and slide it to the right to lock it in place.

    • 6

Secure the grille with the screws, tightening each into the top of the Samsung.
